Can I resume my trip after an unexpected return home?

World Nomads travel insurance covers Canadians when they travel, and in some cases, may be able to pay for you to resume your trip if you unexpectedly need to return home early.

What does your coverage offer?

Your plan offers you a one-way economy fare ticket back to your trip destination if the 24/7 Emergency Assistance team requests that you return to your home province for medical attention and afterwards, your doctor at home says that you no longer need treatment.

However, you must get pre-approved for this benefit, and you can only use it once during your trip.

If you need to return home for a reason other than for a medical emergency, you will need to pay your own transportation – both back to your house and back to your original trip destination should you wish to pick up where you left off after some time at home.

Will my coverage still work if I resume my trip?

While your coverage is not in effect when you’re at home, it’s still valid when you travel up until the original end date of your policy – that means you don’t have to buy a new policy if you choose to get back on the road. You will have to purchase an extension, however, if you want to travel beyond your policy’s original end date.

This is only a summary of coverage and does not include the full terms and conditions of the policy. It is important you read and understand your policy as it contains benefits, conditions, exclusions and pre-existing condition exclusions. If you do not understand your coverage or if you have questions, just ask us.
